A Neurodiversity Affirming Approach
I completed a Neurodiversity-Affirming coaching program in February of 2025. The Certified Neurodivergence Life Coach Program was brand new when I enrolled and actually I was the first person to complete it. How cool is that?
Though the CNDLC program carries the term “coach” in its title, its focus is not on driving outcomes. Rather, this unique program cultivates a nuanced, systems-aware understanding of neurodivergent experience that can be applied across various fields including education, consulting, speaking, and collaborative work with licensed providers. The training is grounded in contemporary research on neurodivergence in adulthood (including autism and ADHD) and draws on the work of scholars such as Dr. Devon Price and Dr. Megan Anna Neff. The learning also included neurodivergent creators on various platforms and thinkers who are shaping this rapidly evolving field in real time.
The CNDLC program was co-created by Simon Egerton, a UK-based neurodivergent educator and specialist in neurodivergence-affirming approaches. Simon was my mentor and is a stellar human being with whom it was a true privilege to learn.
By the end, the CNDLC training deepened my ability to recognize neurodivergent experience across its full range. There are numerous presentations that have been frequently misunderstood. I came away with a renewed appreciation for the fact that so many neurodivergent people spend our lives trying to adapt to environments that were not designed for us. In coming to a nuanced understanding of our own wiring, we can begin to see more clearly where friction actually comes from. Sometimes there is nothing we need to do, but just more we need to understand and love in ourselves. When we build ways of living that are aligned with a clear grasp of who we truly are, we tend to find greater ease and wellbeing.
